My little Fatty!

Christmas morning with my new toys!
Wow! I haven't posted anything for way to long, so here goes a lengthy update on what the Todd family has been up for the past few months! We had an excellent Christmas. Mike had to work all night Christmas Eve and then again Christmas night, so we didn't really get to see him and that part was a bummer, but we still had a great day. After all the excitment from the day, We decided to spend the night at Grandma "Honeys". Dustin and his family slept over too- so it was a big slumber party! Thanks grandma and grandpa for sacrificing your sleep and opening your beds, couches and floors to us so we didn't have to drive home in the horrible snow storm that night! New Years was kind of uneventful, but I did get Mike to take me to see Twilight that night- I wanted to see it in the theater -and it did not disappoint!
First part of January Dax rolled over for the first time! He has mastered that and is currently working on his balance so he can sit on his own. He's almost there! We started Dax on rice cereal, and he has finally gotten the hang of it- of course he liked it from the beginning (what can i say-the kid likes to eat) but he now swallows more than he spits out. We also took him in for his 4 month appointment and he is doing extremely well! he is such a fatty- he weighed 17 lbs and 3 oz- which is up 3lbs 7 ozs from his 2 month. he also gained 2 inches in height. He got his shots and took them like a champ- probaly because he's so fat he could hardly feel the needle, or maybe it's just because he is such a good little guy! He is such a happy baby. He very rarely cries and will always give you a big smile. He has also started to laugh, and Tavin loves to make him laugh. They are such good buddies already!
Tavin has been going in the "big" potty for almost 2 months now, which is such a wonderful thing!!! I won't say he is all the way potty trained- cuz i don't want to jinx it, but he is doing extremely well! It has been so nice not to have to buy 2 sets of diapers anymore! We have also been working on taking Tavins binkies from him. any advice here? We took him to the Dentist and they lectured us saying he should have stopped that bad habit by the age of two and since he is almost three it is affecting the way his mouth is growing! I have a feeling this will still be quite a battle for some time to come- but we have progressed to where he only gets them when he goes to sleep versus all day long. (But even that continues to be a battle- and yes i said them, because he has to have at LEAST 2 binkies when he goes to sleep) I know it is a comfort thing for him, so thats why I've hesitated, but hopefully next post I can say we have moved past them! Tavin has really had a blast playing in the snow this winter. He will come to me with his coat, hats, boots, and mittens already on- that he has put on by himself-, and tell me he is going outside. He has started doing this, because every time he asked me if he could go outside i would tell him no because he didn't have his snow clothes on. He is to stinkin smart!
These past months have gone by so fast, and i can't believe how big my 2 babies are getting. Tavin will be 3 years old at the end of this month, and I can still remember the day he was born. I remember thinking when he was a newborn that i couldn't wait for him to get a little bigger- so he'd sleep through the night and then it was so he would start smiling at me: next was rolling over, then walking. After that i couldn't wait for him to get a little bigger so he could talk and i could understand what he wanted. All of these things have now occurred and there are plenty of things that i still can't wait for with him, but i have realized just how quickly these "Big" events happen, and i miss them. He has entered a very hard and testing age for me. He has learned to talk back and tell me "NO". He has also started hitting and throwing awesome temper tantrums. there are many days when I feel like I don't know what to do with him and am extremely grateful for a husband that steps in when Im in pieces. Hard to imagine at the moment, but I know I will look back at these moments and miss them one day as well. I have really learned not to take anything for granted and to take each moment for what it is. Life is just cruising by, and I think the older you get the faster time goes!

Our babies are growing so fast!! On the binki thing, when we got Payton off of them, he had bitten through one of the nipples, so we just cut it off and told him it was broken, but still gave it to him. He whined a little at first and kept trying to suck on it, but got over it rather quickly (he was only 16 months at the time though). I have also heard with older kids that you can send them to the "binki fairy" and she will send something back in return (I got this one from Supernanny). Hopefully this will help, feel free to call me if it doesn't make sense! :)
